Amhuinnsuidhe Castle is a truly romantic venue, set amidst the drama and pristine wilderness of The Outer Hebrides. Standing guard at the edge of the Atlantic the Castle is surrounded by some of the most beautiful beaches imaginable with views to South Harris, the castaway island of Taransay and the islands beyond.

Designed in the Scottish Baronial style by the Victorian architect David Bryce, the Castle was built in 1867 for the 7th Earl of Dunmore taking full advantage of its breathtaking position.

The name “Amhuinnsuidhe” is Gaelic for “sitting by the river”, and indeed one of the salmon and sea trout systems enters the sea next to the Castle.
